“A New Year, A New You” Really?

The office social committee has added a large board in the kitchen encouraging employees to write and share their new year’s resolutions with everyone else in the office.

In big bold letters, it is written “A Ne
w Year, A New You”

  • Be realistic
  • Focus on the positive
  • Create a plan of action
  • Create a support system
  • set milestone
  • keep perspective

They have made enough check boxes for every single employee. You are supposed to check the box next to your resolution once you have accomplished it. They will keep the board there until the end of the year and give out rewards for those who accomplish their goals. The board is supposed to keep us accountable.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this must be an extrovert thing. As an introvert, I am very private and even if I had made a resolution, I wouldn’t want to share it with everyone in the office and have people ask me about my progress or lack there of.

Secondly, I did not make a resolution this year or the year before. I do have goals and plans, but they are created and achieved or changed all year long. I have never reserved introspection as a new years thing.
