We aren’t supposed to fit in

I think each of us wants to love our whole self. I know I really do, both inside and out. I think everyone has felt or is feeling like they don’t fit in today’s reality. The thing is, we aren’t supposed to fit in.

I am a geek, rebellious and mischievous. I’m an introvert.

“There is power in refusing to hide pieces of yourself.” – Carrie Fisher

This world needs all kinds of people to complete it.

It is normal for our inner voice to echo criticism that we hear outside. This inner voice taunts you whenever you set a goal and it criticises you when life gets difficult. If left unchecked, this negative inner voice will grow and take a life of its own.

If there are any exterior factors that are feeding that negative inner voice, such as a friend who always points out faults or tries to help you become a better person by changing who you are, stop listening to them. Start blocking any outside criticism. You’ve got nothing to prove to anyone and dgeek-499140_1920on’t let anyone change you.

Start surrounding yourself with people who love you for who you are and bring positive encouragement. This will help you when facing that inner voice that has gained power within you.

Most of us pass more time being our own enemy instead of being our own best friends and supporters. Don’t expect to win over your inner critique in one day. There will be step forwards and there will be steps back. When it all falls apart, just start over again.

“Just be yourself. Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, weird, beautiful, magical person that you are.” – Mandy Hale, Author of the Single Woman
