Breaking Standards since Childhood
There is still a lot of people who assume that when little, every girl wants to be a princess, famous actress, model, or superstar. I when I was little, I this little girl wanted to get into robotics and build androids and later on I wanted to become a laboratory biologist. What did you want to be when you were a child?
Walking in a toy store this weekend to find a birthday gift for a little girl, I found myself on the “boy” side to find what I was looking for. Why do we give the message to children that science and action pack games are for boys only?
This is why we shouldn’t separate toys by gender and we really need to be demanding gender neutrality in marketing and toy aisles. We need to stop generalising and assuming what an entire gender wants. We are all different and that should be celebrated.
Don’t you feel that your children’s choices are much more restrictive than they were when we were young? Aren’t we supposed to want more and better for our children?
It is so much better to be an original, to free our inner individual and show them how we do things differently. Life is too short to live any other way.
