Tiny Moments of Kindness

Tiny moments of kindness can have big effects. Look around your. Is there someone in your life is having a difficult time and could use some support? It could be someone who is simply struggling to smile today. Take a minute to do something nice for them. Bring them a coffee. Make them smile. Anything positive is good. Everyone has the ability to change someone’s world for the better.

volunteer-1271701_1920Of course, the gesture can be big, such as bringing a meal to the infirm or the poor, cleaning a nearby beach or neighbourhood or relatively small, such as sending an email or note to let someone know you’re thinking of them or lending an ear to someone who needs to talk. We have a coworker who goes after work and brings any doggy bags that the rest of us brings back from lunch to hand out to the homeless in the area. We have another coworkers who collects cans for a wheelchair charity. It can be anything of your choice or you can simply contribute to the efforts of someone you know.

Small or big, the positive energy to put out makes the world a better place.

Many research shows that feeling compassion and altruism are good for our health. I’m sure you have heard of this before. It causes our heart rate to slow, which makes us more relaxed and calm. Compassion leads to the release of Oxycontin, which helps us to feel more connected and loving toward others; and it activates regions of the brain linked to empathy, care giving, and pleasure. In short, it makes us much better better persons.
