Kenopsia is the eerie, forlorn atmosphere of a place that is usually bustling with people but is now abandoned and quiet.
As a child, I lived in a very small village. My grandparents had the keys to the school and the library. I loved going inside during off hours and simply enjoying that forlorn atmosphere. I volunteered to place the milk boxes on students desk because that allowed me to walk the empty hallways and class rooms. I also liked to go to our library (a small converted trailer) during off hours and simply sit on the floor and read.
Maybe the reason why I enjoyed this feeling so much is that I’m an introvert. People who are introverts need alone time to recharge their inner batteries. There is simply something about kenopsia that charges are supercharging.
