Password Change – Tips & Warnings

It is recommended that you change your passwords every 90 days. Here are some tips to help make your passwords more secure:

  • Your password must not contain your account name or parts of your full name;
  • It should be at least six characters in length;
  • It should contain characters from three of the following four categories:
    • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
    • English lowercase characters (a through z)
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
  • It should have non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)

If you receive an email asking you to click on a reset password button asking change your password for security reasons do not click on it. There’s a very good chance that it’s a phishing email. First of all, password change requests don’t come by email. If unsure look carefully at the “from:” email. You will notice that it’s a fishy email you’ve never seen before.
