Gender roles are bullshit.
I wanted to take a minute to discuss and highlight feminist men who are lending their voices for equality regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation. Let’s face it without involving men in discussions, society is unable to close the gender gap.
Gender Roles hold both women and men back.
“It’s worth paying attention to the roles that are dictated to us and to realise that we don’t have to fit into these roles. We can be anybody we want to be.” – Joseph Gordon-Levitt
“Women can be wives, mothers, comedians, bio-engineers, hackers, auto mechanics… the pressure should not be on fitting stereotypes and norms, but instead the pressure should be launching yourself toward your true passions during the short time we have on this planet.” – Ian Somerhalder
Working together instead of against each other
“You can’t really find peace in the world when 50% of the world is excluded from the conversation.” – Forest Whitaker
“This is no longer about women or men. This is about women and men working together to craft a shared vision of human progress for all.” – Kiefer Sutherland
It always restores my faith in humanity when I hear men declaring that they are feminist and allies.
“There is nothing wrong with a man being a feminist. I think it is to our mutual advantage.” – Alan Rickman
“All men should be feminists. If men care about women’s rights, the world will be a better place. We are better off when women are empowered, it leads to a better society.” – John Legend
“I think misogyny is like a disease that needs to be cured and if we could eradicate polio, I don’t see why we can’t eradicate misogyny.” – Alan Alda
“I wasn’t raised by a man. I was raised by a single mother my whole life. It’d be ridiculous for me to say that I didn’t believe in feminism. They’re the strongest beings in the world.” – Jason Momoa
There are many good men who believe in women but are sitting passively on the sideline while others are trying to hurt and murder us.
“I am over the passivity of good men. Where the hell are you? You live with us, make love with us, father us, befriend us, brother us, get nurtured and mothered and eternally supported by us? Why aren’t you driven to the point of madness and action by the rape and humiliation of us?” – Eve Ensler
No one should be afraid of the word feminist.
“We shouldn’t be afraid of the word feminist. Men and women should use it to describe themselves.” – Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada
