I have always been uncomfortable with the advice to forgive and forget. Live is too short to continually allow abusive and manipulative behaviour in my life and live in constant state of anxiety because I want to be nice. So forgive and forget is out of the window.
I’m equally uncomfortable with the idea of forgiving, but remembering. I understand that negative emotions are far too heavy to walk around with, but I don’t agree that in order to let go of bitterness and anger you need to forgive the person who hurt you.
