There is so much negativity in the news. I like to use my blog to highlight positive achievements, people who make a difference in this chaotic world.
On January 27, 2016, Hilda Cathy Heine became the 8th President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. She is the 1st woman to hold the presidency.
Before her appointment, she was the Deputy Minister of Education. She was the 1st individual in the Marshall Islands to earn a doctorate degree. It comes as no surprise, that President Hilda Cathy Heine is dedicated to improving access to quality education.
She is also a climate change activist and a feminist. She founded the Women United Together Marshall Islands, a women’s rights group.
She made the focus of her presidency on improving health, establishing youth empowerment programs, creating more jobs and job training.
