Becoming vegetarian is a personal choice

I’ve been officially a vegetarian for over 2 decades now. It’s a transition that happened slowly and naturally. Looking back, there are hints from childhood that I would become a vegetarian the moment I was given autonomy over my food choices. I never liked the taste of meat, any meat. I would cover everything in ketchup or sauce.

#Vegetarian - TopicsWithPassion.blogEven after all this time, I still worry about telling people I meet that I’m vegetarian because I’ve faced such a variety of awkward reactions that I always wonder if knowing that I don’t eat meat means we won’t be friends.

Many assume that I see non-vegetarians as unworthy. They assume that I’m self-righteous and smug. Some people even think that it’s a competition about whose a better human being.
