When is antisocial a personality disorder?

When is antisocial a personality disorder? Antisocial and Introversion are often mixed up but are truly worlds apart.

Individuals with an antisocial personality disorder lack a conscience, lack respect for other people’s rights, feelings and needs. If you simply prefer to be by yourself and avoid social situations but have great respect for other people’s rights, feelings and needs, you are probably an introvert.

Introverts need alone time to recharge their inner batteries. They dislike small talk, especially with strangers. They often feel stronger and have a lot of empathy.

  1. Very good point. People often don’t know there’s a difference between antisocial and asocial. Asocial basically means not wanting to be social, and introverts tend to be asocial to some extent. Antisocial is more along the lines of not giving a crap about basic social expectations like following the law, and antisocial PD is commonly associated with criminal behaviour.

I love hearing from you!
