I wanted to take a moment to discuss mothers with anxiety, because I am one. Like many women, I often feel that I should please and care for my family members as if it was one of their main goals in life. Many societies or cultures assign women a very specific role.
I feel guilty as soon as things go wrong. I overestimate my mistakes. In my eyes, it is a personal failure. Although I look happy, I am often sad and dissatisfied with my life, because no matter what I do, there’s always someone who is unhappy. I can’t fix everyone’s issues. Over time, I started to feel depressed about not being able to do more. I constantly feel like I’m not doing enough and I still have a lot to do.
You may think that there is no harm in watching over the well-being of your spouse and children and I’m complaining for nothing. You are right that there’s nothing wrong with taking care of our loved ones, but I also realize that we must also look after our own well-being.
