I found that people have a lot of trouble accepting that you have an illness that is incurable. I think there are 2 reasons for this.
1. They care about you and don’t want to accept that you will be in pain for the rest of your life;
2. The idea that they could get a disease for which there is no cure, for which there is no real curable treatment and there is no explanation is very scary. I believe one of the reasons why people have so much trouble believing that you have one of these incurable diseases is that they want to believe they’re safe and we as people suffering from this are evidence that this can happen.
