You are your child’s biggest ally

May 15th is International Day of Families. It’s the perfect time for a reminder that you are your child’s biggest ally.

Carrying a child in your belly doesn’t make you a mother. Loving and taking care of that child does.

It’s important to remember that children don’t need their parents to be perfect, but they do need them to show up. Just let go of perfect because you’re doing great. As long as you are doing your best and that you are doing it with love, you are doing an amazing job.

You may not believe it with the way things look in our world today, but your children, even teenagers, are always watching and listening to what we say and do. Children see how their parents react to the world both physically and verbally. They see how their parents talk and feel about their bodies. They learn what’s important from their parents.

Teenagers’ need you now in a way they didn’t before. And they find it really hard to tell you.

As a parent, we want to protect our children from the evil in the world but also prepare them for it. A parent’s love for her children can reveal a foolproof force. You will become an army for your child. You know what’s best for your child, trust your guts.

Parents don’t have it easy, but we find a way to make it work, even when they don’t know how. It’s the love for their children that keep them going.

You are not alone in this. You will never be alone.

I love hearing from you!
