As you probably already know, I have generalized anxiety. I take medication to help, but sometime it’s not enough.
Many people experience anxiety. Some types of anxiety are healthy, but if the feeling begins to invade your daily life, you may have an anxiety disorder.
An anxiety disorder can be manifested by feelings of worry, nervousness and panic. A distinction must be made between anxiety and fear, the latter being an instant reaction to a perceived threat. It is perfectly normal to feel anxious from time to time. Sometimes, a little anxiety can even be beneficial and help people perform certain tasks. When anxiety begins to invade your daily life, you may have an anxiety disorder.
Generalized anxiety disorder: Excessive and uncontrollable worry about upcoming events or everyday things
If you know someone with anxiety, please don’t do these top 10 things:
- Don’t ask them what else could go wrong. Something can always go wrong and there’s nothing like the imagination of a anxiety sufferer;
- Don’t text them saying that you could crawl under your desk and cry and then not respond when they ask “what’s wrong?”;
- Tell them if you are going to be late. Don’t go radio silent.
