The pressure to perform

We are all under the pressure to perform. The collective expectations imposed on each individual in terms of performance are extremely high. We often have an evaluation system that defines the value of people based on their level of productivity in their jobs. Unfortunately, that makes it even harder for those dealing with physical or/and mental health.

“You’re killing yourself for a job that would replace you within a week if you dropped dead. Take care of yourself” – Unknown

I am constantly frustrated by trying to live in a ‘healthy person’s’ world, knowing that I am not functioning on the same level as everyone around me. Graves’ Disease, Sleep Apnea and Fibromyalgia have turn this educated, ambitious, hardworking and tireless woman and robbed me of the ability to work, clean my house, exercise, think clearly. It’s not laziness. I’m not in need of an attitude adjustment. I’m not whining or being a negative person. I’m not exaggerating or trying to be difficult. This change is the result of widespread dysfunction in my body and my brain that’s difficult to understand and difficult to treat. In fact, it’s incurable.

Protecting our peace and our health must be our priority! Let’s release our heavy loads this week.

I love hearing from you!
