Many drink to numb their pain. It’s a way a lot of people mask what is really going on. I know that being someone who lives with physical pain 24/7, I’ve been actually suggested that I should drink more often as it numbs the pain.

If you find that you’re consistently drinking to escape feelings of depression or anxiety, or if you frequently experience morning-after panic, it might be worth thinking about the role that alcohol plays in your moods.

Alcohol was the leading risk factor for disease and premature death in men and women between the ages of 15 and 49 worldwide in 2016, accounting for nearly 1 in 10 deaths, according to the study.
