We’ve all heard it.
- “Want to lose weight before your wedding day, but don’t know where to start, buy our guide and product”
- “You’re such a pretty girl, but you would be so much prettier if you lost weight.”
Women are questioned just for existing.
“A culture fixated on female thinness is not an obsession about female beauty, but an obsession about female obedience. Dieting is the most potent political sedative in women’s history in women’s history; a quietly mad population is a tractable one.” – Naomi Wolf
When people speak about body acceptance, there are always those who try to support the cause by stating that men like big boobies and big butts. They don’t realize that it’s not supportive at all. A women’s looks as nothing to do with what men like or dislike. We don’t exist solely to please others.
“If you live off a man’s compliments, you’ll die from his criticism.” – Cornelius Lindsey
Why speak up?
- To find solace and confidence in ourselves by opening up about our stories.
- Make people realize that their words and actions are immoral and abusive.
“It’s extremely important for women to be writing their own stories and given them to people to really be emotionally impacted by.” – Rosario Dawson
Stop telling women what to do with their bodies. You don’t own us. You don’t get to have an opinion about our lives.
