It’s important to understand that everyone deals with trauma differently. There is more than one way to deal with traumatic experience.
Some people go through a traumatic event and go silent. Sometime it feels better not to talk at all about anything to anyone. When I was attacked by 15+ boys with the intent of rape, I didn’t tell a soul. It took me over 30 years before I opened up about the experience and blogged about it.
Some people go thought a traumatic event and talk about it. Silence may be golden, but that saying isn’t healthy for everyone.
Everyone deals with unimaginable traumatic pain in their own way and everyone is entitled to that, without judgement.
No matter how you deal with traumatic pain, take time to appreciate your progress and know that you will survive. It’s important to be honest with yourself and not compare your path with others. The only way to truly heal is to go at it your way, mimicking others won’t help you.
This isn’t a competition. No one is better than anybody else.
If you are reading this blog, it means that you have survived so far every trauma, heartbreak, devastation, you’ve gone through. You are already stronger than you are giving yourself credit for and you are amazing in my eyes.
