The harm of discrimination

Discrimination is present in our society. Unfortunately, many young people notice inequalities in their lives even before being teenagers

Disrespect

Women and minorities are being treated worse than boys on the internet, including through social media as society doesn’t think they are owed as much respect as a white man. This is not surprising, as it is well documented that young women and minorities are victims of online abuse and harassment, which are often sexist or/and misogynist or/and racist.

Silencing

Often women and minorities get the feeling that their opinions are often not taken seriously because they aren’t white males. This is a form of silencing.

Many women and minorities admit being afraid to speak up and complain about inequality and fight for their rights. Intimidation is another form of silencing.

Conclusion

It is crucial that we continue to press for understanding and naming the problem so that we can solve it together.
