Do not hold yourself back

If you are having a bad day, don’t hold it in. Do not hold yourself back. Cry, scream, sob, let it out. It’s okay to express yourself in the way that makes you feel better. It’s important no to let it fester inside of you.

As a society, we have grown uncomfortable with showing and feeling our emotions. Although I am a big fan of Star Trek, I don’t necessarily think that Vulcan’s have a healthy view of logic or emotions. Yet, my ex used to admire the Vulcan way and was forever trying to be like them. To him, as to many people, showing emotions, even feeling them equals weakness. This isn’t true. Fearing them and refusing to deal with them is weakness.

It’s important to embrace your emotions because repressing them is bad for your mental and physical health. Embrace all of your emotions, even the negative ones. Strong people realize that accepting emotions is the only way you can truly move on.

It’s time we remember that emotions aren’t bad words. We have them for a reason. We shouldn’t be suppressing or hiding them. Your emotions belong to you, and you choose how you want to express them.
