What is a compliment that you struggle to accept about yourself?

What is a compliment that you struggle to accept about yourself?

I struggle to accept compliments about my looks. Since I got since sick a few years ago, my body has changed quite a bit and sometimes it makes me feel like I lost a lost of that youthful and healthy attractiveness I used to have. This is why I struggle to believe people when they tell me I look good. I fail to see the beauty of the present, because I’m always comparing myself to my best day, instead of seeing the beauty in what I look like now.

I think this is a something that many women is struggling.

I understand that most people give compliments because they genuinely want to share their appreciation and they want to make you feel good. Too often I end up cringing and being completely awkward and it’s not only because I’m an introvert.

The problem with compliments in general is that we are raised to believe that if you politely agree, your response can be interpreted as arrogance. Then again, If you deflect or downplay the praise, you may seem like you have low self-esteem.
