Why accountability hurts?

Accountability can hurt. This is because taking accountability means acknowledging that we aren’t perfect and that we made a mistake. Personal accountability is a willingness to answer for the outcomes of your choices, actions, and behaviours. When you’re personally accountable, you stop assigning blame on others or making excuses.

It also means realizing that our words or actions hurt someone. Most people are good and don’t want to hurt anyone.

Why is it important to take responsibility for your actions?

Even though accountability can hurt, it is still important to take responsibility for our actions. Taking responsibility is the only way that we can learn from our mistakes and grow to become better human beings.

How to take responsibility for my actions?

Even if we didn’t intend to do harm, it’s important acknowledge that our behaviour or words were harmful.  We also need to learn from our mistake and stop doing it. Otherwise, saying sorry without changing our ways means nothing. To make sure that the harmful behaviour isn’t repeated, you need to commit to changing any harmful attitudes and behaviours. Remember, action speak louder than words.
