It never too late or a bad time to start a new habit. Try to be realistic and measured. Do one thing. Make it a habit. Make it so you don’t even think about it anymore. Then do another. Life is a marathon. Pace yourself.
This month, I want to dedicate at least 10 minutes a day to cleaning out the clutter in my life. This includes making my bed in the morning. That way I start my day feeling like I’ve already accomplished something. Also, no matter how bad the day is, I have something nice to come home to.
“Change is good.” – Rafki, The Lion King
The more stress I am, the more clutter you can find everywhere in my home and my workplace, which only adds to the stress. I start feeling walled in. This month I want to start the good habit of cleaning the clutter even when I feel overwhelmed.
When it comes to sorting through my belongings, I’m going to ask myself whether an item brings you joy. Instead of worrying about whether I might fit into those jeans again or if that pile of electrical cords could come in handy some day, I will see if that object brings me joy. If not, I will remove it from my life.
I’m hoping that this is a change that will increase my happiness.
What good habit do you want to begin this month?
