What being good doesn’t mean

Being nice doesn’t being a pushover

Being good doesn’t mean letting people walk all over you and take advantage of you. If people know you’re a pushover, they’ll walk all over you all day.  You can be kind, but also throat-punch someone if you need to defend yourself. I hope that you will never be in a position to have to defend yourself like that, but if you do, please do not feel guilt over using any force necessary to survive. The idea is that nice people don’t defend themselves is ridiculous.

“You can be a good person with a kind spirit and still tell people to go fuck themselves when needed.” – Nerds with Vaginas

Being nice doesn’t mean saying yes to everything and everyone

Being good doesn’t mean that you have to bend over backwards to accommodate everyone else whims, take on tasks no one else wants, and meet every need but yours. Being nice, means being good to yourself also. Learning to say no and setting boundaries is part of doing just that.

I love hearing from you!
