Books help to bring imagination to life. April 2nd is International Children’s Book Day.
In today’s fast-paced world, no matter what our age is, we tend to turn to our phones for entertainment or comfort. We scroll through news feeds and videos that can contribute to our stress and anxiety rather than helping it.
Instead, consider bringing a book with you when you leave the house. Take time to relax before bedtime by reading a book to your children. You might be amazed at the difference it can make when you slow down instead of always looking at your phone. Not only can it help improve your mood, it can also help you to stay more present and mindful. It also help bring imagination to life.
I’m a major book lover. My parents had bookshelves lining up the walls in the basement. My new house doesn’t have as many bookshelves, but the books are two rows thick on every shelf. Yet, I do find myself reaching for my phone more than I reach for a book. It’s a bad habit, I’d like to change this year.
