Thankful for my struggles

I am thankful for my struggles with physical and mental health. Without them I wouldn’t have found my voice or known how strong I could be.

Remember that no matter what your struggle is, it is valid. Whether you are dealing with trauma, physical or mental illness or anything else, your struggle is valid. Whether there is someone else in this world that has it worse than you, your struggle is still valid.

Also know that you are not alone. We all have our struggles.

One thing that I have learned is that workplaces can play an essential part in maintaining positive mental health. Unfortunately, most workplaces lack in knowledge, understanding or tools to do so. Workplaces can give people the opportunity to feel productive. Feeling productive can be a strong contributor to employee well-being.

Stressful environment contributes to the rise of mental health problems and illnesses. No workplace is immune from these risks. We cannot afford to limit our definition of occupational health and safety to only physical health.

Everyone thinks I’m overly dramatic when I’m stressed. When an octopus is stressed, it eats itself. Now that’s over-dramatic.

I am thankful for my struggles because it made me who I am.
