The law values men above women

The law values men above women. We see it over and over again. Men get much smaller sentences for hurting women and children. If a women dares kill her partner in self-defense or leave a child in the car, she will be punished much harshly than a man would be.

The law values men above women. Crimes against girls and women are often minimized, even in the media. For example, we should choose our words more wisely. The victim wasn’t an underage woman. There is no such thing. The victim was a child. The man didn’t have sex with a minor. He raped a child. The man didn’t have non-consensual sex. He raped a woman. Rapist don’t deserve politeness. The crime shouldn’t be minimized. Victims deserve to be taken seriously. They deserve validation for what they have been through.

“The average prison sentence of men who kill their women partners is 2 to 6 years. Women who kill their male partners are sentence on average to 15 years. This is despite the fact that 86% of female offenders kill in self-defense, while males are most likely to kill out of possessiveness (82%), abuse (75%) and during arguments (63%). Women are 8 times more likely than men to be killed by an intimate partner.”
